Boy's birthday

10 years ago today our boy was born and turned our world upside down.  I can't even imagine what life was like before ( give me a moment....).  He has brought joy, laughter, worry, pride, cheekiness, and a miscellany of boys things and smells to our life and we wouldn't have it any other way!

One thing with boyo is that his list of wants is usually pretty short, he's an easily pleased kid.  His main wish was to have an iPod touch.  Following our holiday with his cousins who both have one and gave him plenty of time to play on one, it became his one thing he wanted.  He wasn't too upset when we told him he wasn't getting one, GG got in on the act confirming he "definitely wasn't getting one" - she had been with me when I picked up my new toy from the post office and had been sworn to secrecy.

6.17am he sneaked into the bedroom, his eyes pretty much latched onto his new pressie as it was charging and not wrapped.  We gave him my 'old' iPad and he was over the moon!

We went to see Hotel Transylvanie in 3D at the movies.  I really wish I could have taken a phont in the theatre of both the kids sitting staring at the screen with their oversized glasses on.  Not sure if others would have been too pleased.  Great movie, very funny - love Adam Sandler as Dracula and Kevin James as Frankenstein.

Two things though he was certain he wanted (and would get) was Macca's for dinner and his birthday cake to be a chocolate mud cake.  The mud cake was started yesterday, I took the recipe from Julie Goodwin's book and it is so rich and dense and just yum....it has so much chocolate in it and weighs a ton!  I think we will have to freeze some of it as you can only eat very small portions and it is huge!

Typical boy shot!

First post

New month, new iPad, new blog.

Very quiet day in our household, we have entered the 2nd week of the holidays and after a fabulous time at Coffs Harbour with the cousins, home is just not as fun!

I have been working on my new pillow cover.  It's my most favourite Heather Bailey fabric, it took me 4 months to cut into it!!!!  I decided to embellish the gorgeous flowers with embroidery.

I know it is going to take me ages but it will be even more beautiful.

Also, I'm making an effort to change our eating habits by eating more fresh food rather than pre-prepared.  I have a pile of magazines I'm working my way through and ripping out pages of things to try.  Last night we had chicken stiffly with cashews and plum sauce, so good - definitely adding to our list to do again.  Tonight we had chicken breast stuffed with apricots and spinach on a pumpkin mash.  GG helped me with the cooking and overall it was a winner!

2 days til BB's birthday......
